Amazon MGM Studios has set a November 2026 release date for “Rocky: This Is Me,” a biographical drama about the making of the 1976 classic “Rocky.” The film, directed by Oscar winner Peter Farrelly (“Green Book”), will tell the remarkable story of how a homeless and desperate Sylvester Stallone sold his dog but refused hundreds of thousands of dollars for his “Rocky” script, insisting instead on playing the lead role himself.
The release date was revealed by Scott Teller, who plays the young Paulie Pennino in the film. The November release window clearly signals the studio’s awards season ambitions, positioning the project as a serious contender for recognition.
Farrelly, who won an Academy Award for “Green Book,” has called Peter Gamble’s script one of the best he’s ever read. In a recent interview, he shared previously unknown details about the production: “The studio tried everything to sabotage the filming. On the first day of shooting, Stallone was forced to run all the running scenes—18 miles—after which he ended up in the hospital. On the second day, he had to punch frozen, rock-hard meat until he broke both hands. He was hospitalized four times, made the film for a million dollars, and completed it in four weeks. He went from being homeless to winning an Oscar—for me, that’s a story stronger than the story in ‘Rocky.’”
Sylvester Stallone himself has not yet given his blessing to the project, but he hasn’t criticized it either, stating that he will judge it based on the final result. Regardless, November 2026 promises to be the month when audiences will see the incredible story of how a Hollywood legend was born, the man behind one of the most inspiring characters in cinema history.
