Elijah Wood commented on rumors about Frodo Baggins’ return. Elijah Wood, who played Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings franchise, has spoken out about Sir Ian McKellen’s recent statement regarding the reunion of their characters in the upcoming film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. McKellen, who has already confirmed his return as Gandalf, cryptically hinted at a fan event: ‘There is a character in the film named Frodo and another character named Gandalf, but I won’t say anything else.’
During his appearance at FAN EXPO in New Orleans, Wood was asked to comment on this statement. The actor is neither confirmed nor denied his participation in the project, but made a meaningful hint. “I can neither confirm nor deny. Listen, a wizard is to be trusted. Other than that, I’m really not allowed to confirm anything. I’m really looking forward to this film. I think it’s a truly creative “reunion of the group”. I’m glad Andy is directing. It’s only right that he should make a film about his character, whom he has made so iconic. It’s going to be great. And I’m looking forward to seeing it. I know they’re planning to make other films in this universe.”
Although Wood was unable to directly confirm that he will appear in the film alongside McKellen and Andy Serkis, his words about trusting the wizard and not being allowed to disclose details give good reason to believe that Frodo will return. The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled to premiere on December 17, 2027.
